Bath Variety & Quality ★★★★☆
It is a mildly alkaline simple hot spring, known for its gentle, smooth feel on the skin. The water warms the body thoroughly from the core.
The open-air bath has a pleasant sense of openness, with trees and plants arranged to create a distinctly Kyoto-like atmosphere. The greenery swaying gently in the breeze adds an extra layer of relaxation to the experience.
Atmosphere & Authenticity ★★★★☆
It is a day-use hot spring with a traditional Japanese ryokan-style atmosphere, and because it is not overly crowded, it rarely feels noisy. It’s highly recommended for those who want to casually enjoy a truly Japanese-style hot spring experience.
Comfort ★★★★★
One of the standout features of Fufu-no-Yu is its sauna. If you visit between around 12:00 and 3:00 p.m., there are usually fewer people, and if you’re lucky, you may be able to enjoy the sauna almost entirely to yourself.
After bathing, you can relax in a spacious tatami rest area. It’s the perfect place to rest your tired body after walking around Arashiyama, and combined with the quiet, calm atmosphere, it is personally one of my favorite spaces in the facility.
Accessibility for Tourists ★★★★☆
It is located within walking distance of Arashiyama’s main sightseeing spots, making it easy to include in your sightseeing route. Access from the nearest station is also convenient, which is a major advantage for first-time visitors to Kyoto, as it’s easy to find.
On the downside, guests with tattoos are not allowed to use the facility.
Scenic Value / Surroundings ★★★★☆
It is a hot spring facility located in the popular sightseeing area of Arashiyama in Kyoto, making it easy to stop by while visiting nearby attractions.
The open-air bath is especially open and refreshing, making it an ideal place to relax and soothe travel fatigue.
