【Hot Springs Ceremony】 Types of bathing methods

Japanese bathing culture

Hello!
There are many different ways to enjoy a hot spring bath. I’ve put together the essential bathing steps I’d like you to know, so please read through to the end!

Half-body bath

Immerse yourself up to just above the abdomen. Half-body bathing is crucial for safe bathing, especially recommended for individuals with heart or lung conditions.

Full-body bath

Immerse yourself up to your shoulders, slowly sinking in while exhaling without holding your breath. It is beneficial to stretch your legs in the water, as the hydrostatic pressure helps improve circulation, reducing swelling and promoting better blood flow.

Floating Bath

Rest your head on the edge of the tub, bend your knees, and place the soles of your feet on the bottom of the tub, creating a sensation of floating. The buoyancy effect reduces your body weight by about 90%, making it easier for your muscles to relax and relieving tension.
