Sarasa Nishijin
Sarasa Nishijin is a popular café located near Funaoka Onsen.
It is a renovated former public bathhouse, and its unique interior design makes it a well-known photo spot.
The exterior still looks like a traditional Japanese bathhouse, but once you step inside, you’ll find a stylish, gallery-like atmosphere with beautiful retro tiles and classic décor.
It’s a great place to stop by before or after your visit to Funaoka Onsen.
Please note that the café is closed on Wednesdays.

Kinkaku-ji
Kinkaku-ji is one of the most famous temples in Kyoto and is known around the world.
The exterior of the building is covered in pure gold, making it one of the most beautiful temples in Japan and a major attraction for visitors from all over the globe.
For first-time travelers to Kyoto, Kinkaku-ji is truly a must-visit spot.
Kinkaku-ji and Funaoka Onsen are located quite close to each other—only about 16 minutes by a combination of bus and walking.
Visiting Funaoka Onsen after seeing Kinkaku-ji is a perfect way to relax and unwind while enjoying another side of Kyoto’s culture.

Kenkun Shrine
Kenkun Shrine is located just a few minutes’ walk from Funaoka Onsen.
Since the shrine sits on top of a small hill, you can enjoy a wide view of Kyoto city from its grounds.
It is also a popular spot for a leisurely walk, offering a quiet and peaceful atmosphere where you can experience a local, off-the-beaten-path vibe.
Additionally, it’s a great place for taking photos.
