Bath Variety & Quality ★★★☆☆
The baths at Poteyu are part of a recently built sento designed to recreate the feel of a traditional Japanese public bath.
While it is not a natural hot spring, the water temperature is not too hot, making it ideal for those who want to soak for a longer time.
The cold bath is very chilly.

Atmosphere & Authenticity ★★★★☆
The interior of Poteyu was carefully designed by a Japanese sento enthusiast, featuring large, impressive murals and detailed attention to the floor and wall tiles.
To recreate the feel of a traditional old-style sento, some areas, such as the shower and washing booths, are intentionally made slightly inconvenient.
This unique setup offers a quirky and interesting experience that is different from modern bathhouses.

Comfort ★★★★☆
The facility and bathing areas are well-maintained and clean, making for a generally comfortable experience.
The hotel lobby also has a café, where you can enjoy drinks or desserts after your bath.
Accessibility for Tourists ★★★★☆
Poteyu is located near the Kyoto Railway Museum and just one station away from Kyoto Station, making it easy to include in a sightseeing itinerary.
For day visitors, it’s best suited for a quick soak between sightseeing rather than a long, leisurely stay.
One advantage is that guests with tattoos are also allowed to use the facility.
Scenic Value / Surroundings ★★★★☆
There is no outdoor bath, but the facility is located near the large Umekoji Park, which can be enjoyed together with a stroll.
Umekoji Park also offers family-friendly attractions such as the Kyoto Aquarium and the Kyoto Railway Museum.
This makes it a great option for those visiting with young children.
